Clip one news story of at least 500 words from any newspaper or from our list of Internet news sources. Analyze the body and ending of the story according to the guidelines set by Rich in her text:

• Identify by circling and naming in the margin of the story the transition techniques used by the writer.
• On a separate piece of paper, comment how well the writer does in maintaining reader interest by using the techniques cited by Rich.
• Does the writer use a stylistic ending to close the story? Could the story have been improved by resort to another closing device?
