Amtrak Inspection Train in Des Moines

The rails once traveled by the Rockets were host to an Amtrak inspection train today. The westbound train arrived in Des Moines around 11:30 a.m. and passed the diamond at Short Line Junction at noon. After some delay due to a car parked too near the tracks on the east side of town, they continued westward by the downtown depot. A small contingent of railfans was on hand to get pictures, and most of us paced the train out to Booneville for a meet with an eastbound IAIS freight at 1:30.
