The Logic of Percentages

Step 1:

¨      Actively read Section 6.2 on percents in Bassarear.  pp. 322-329

¨      Actively read "Percentages" from Math for Fun.

¨      Actively read "Paint by Numbers" from Games magazine.

¨      Create "Paint by Numbers" puzzles for the designs in Math for Fun. 

¨      How can you tell what percentage of the squares will be colored in a "Paint by Numbers" puzzle before you start the puzzle?

¨      If you take a 10x10 grid of squares and cut the squares in half with a diagonal line, how does that change the percentages you can represent?  What about two diagonal lines?
